Deeply blue lapis lazuli framed in thick, warm 24K vermeil (gold filled sterling silver) and enhanced with 24K gold leaf in abstract pattern that suggests islands and continents in a deep blue ocean. The gold leaf has been protected with clear gilding sealant to make it more durable, and the vermeil frame is thick and looks luxurious and classic.

You can choose an earrings and pendant set with a larger or a smaller pendant, or buy pieces individually. Please note that a set means 3 pieces: earrings + 1 pendant. The pictured 18″ flat link vermeil chain comes with a pendant or a set.

Drop earrings are 0.4″ (10mm) in diameter with 0.5″ drop. The smaller pendant is 0.6″ (15mm) diameter and the larger pendant is 1″ diameter (25mm) without bail.

Gold and Lapis have been a favorite combination since Ancient Egypt, and I love the history of that mix as well as the vibrancy! Until the late 18th century lapis was extremely rare. The only source of it in Europe, Asia and Africa was the remote Sar-e-Sang valley in mountains of Afghanistan, where it has been mined for more than 6,000 years! From the 12th century through Renaissance, the most beautiful and lasting blue for artists’ paints was made from powdered lapis as well, and this valuable pigment was reserved for only the finest works of art and the richest patrons, such as the legendary Medici of Florence.

Lapis lazuli is the gemstone that got me working with vermeil, because it’s simply crying out for a gold setting.
